Recipe: Cajun Blackened Salmon

This is without a doubt, the best salmon recipe I've come across and I thought the perfect way to start off introducing recipes onto my blog! To make the fillets takes about 15-20 minutes total time to prep and cook so it's quick, easy, healthy and, most importantly, delicious.

Also great for people who fancy a little spice in their food!

Ingredients (For 2 People)

- 2 x Salmon Fillets
- Knob of Butter
- 1x tsp Paprika
- 1x tsp Garlic Granules
- 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper (or less if you don't want too much spice)
- 1/2 tsp Sea Salt Granules (I use Maldon Sea Salt)
- 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 3/4 tsp Thyme
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Sage

Step 1

Get all your spices together into a bowl and mix them up to form your cajun spice mix.

Step 2

Cover your salmon fillets in the cajun mix.

Step 3

Put a pan onto your hob at a high heat and melt your knob of butter in it. Once the butter has melted and is sizzling - place your salmon (skin side down first) in the pan and cook on this side for 4-8 minutes. The time will be dependent on how thick your fillets are. Make sure to cook one side so it's blackened first. You don't want to be turning it over and over again.

Step 4

Once cooked on one side, turn the fillets over carefully and cook for a further 4-8 minutes on the other side.

Step 5

To test and make sure it's cooked to your liking just carefully open one to the fillets up and check out how it's cooked.

Once it's ready - serve with a garnish of your choice! It was a low carb meal for me this time around so I had this with a simple salad and a lime wedge!

Enjoy!!
